Get to know the artist behind the art on Remarkable by Rei. RXR is a blog based in Amsterdam, by the artist Reinilde Jonkhout, that also serves as a backdrop for the art works on her website www.reinilde.com.
Share the excitement about remarkable cultural phenomena that in some cases may have been overlooked or under appreciated.
To no fault of theirs, it can be a quest to find or even come across womxn creatives and that is why Rei shares what she has found. Some cliches are cliches because they are true, and I believe that most of the time sharing is caring, except when it comes to STDs of course.
It personally took me too long to find womxn inspiration, it doesn’t have to take this long for everyone. At the same time – it is never too late to learn something new.
And oh yeah, people don’t take my advice enough – so this might just be a chance to rub it in. I have a certain taste which also speaks to my art work.
Some people featured on RXR will be Dutch as the Netherlands is where the blog is based, but the blog is also open to guest writers to write within the format with final editing by Rei.
About the term womxn, from Wikipedia:
The term Womxn is an alternative term for the English language word women which has been regularly in use since 2015 to explicitly include transgender women and women of color. It has been used in a similar manner as womyn and wimmin, as a rejection of the folk etymology of ‘woman’ allegedly being ‘of man’.
There are some dudes featured on RXR, to which I say, gender is a construct.
